Mustard Seed Masala

Privacy Policy

Last updated June 18, 2026

Plain English, no surprises. This explains what Mustard Seed Masala (the website) and MSM Kitchen (the companion app where home chefs create recipes) collect, why, and the choices you have. We’ve written it to be honest and readable rather than full of legalese.

Who this covers

This policy covers the Mustard Seed Masala website at mustardseedmasala.com and the MSM Kitchen mobile and web app. Mustard Seed Masala is an independent home-cooking project run by DVXL Ventures. Reading recipes on the website needs no account; creating and publishing recipes in MSM Kitchen does.

What we collect

  • Your email address and name — when you sign in to MSM Kitchen (we use a passwordless email link, or an optional password) and when you ask to share your recipe. We use your email to sign you in, to send you an invitation, and to reach you about your account.
  • Recipes and media you create — the recipe text, ingredients, notes, photos, voice recordings (audio), and short videos you add in MSM Kitchen. You decide what to write and record, and you choose which recipes to submit and publish.
  • Comments — if you leave a comment on a recipe, we store the name you enter and your comment. We never ask readers for an email address to comment.
  • “Share your recipe” requests — when you fill in the request form, we store your name, email, and anything you choose to tell us about your cooking, your favourite dishes, and an optional link to your cooking.
  • Basic technical information — like any website or app, our service providers keep standard logs (such as IP address and device or browser type) to operate the service, keep it secure, and prevent spam and abuse. We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data, and we do not run third-party advertising.

How we use your information

  • To provide the service — sign you in, let you create recipes, and keep your work safe.
  • To publish the recipes and media you choose to publish. When you submit a recipe and it’s approved, your recipe — including its photos, audio, and video — is published on the public Mustard Seed Masala website under your kitchen, for anyone to read, listen to, and watch. Publishing is your choice, and only what you publish becomes public. Items you keep private (for example, a private voice note meant only for the editor) are not published.
  • To review contributor requests and moderate comments, so the community stays warm and genuine.
  • To keep the service secure — for example, spam and abuse prevention using Google reCAPTCHA / Firebase App Check.
  • To contact you about your account or your request (for example, to send an invitation).

Where your information is stored

We don’t run our own servers; we rely on trusted providers to store and process information on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase — account sign-in (Firebase Authentication), our database (Firestore) for recipes, comments and requests, and website hosting. Processed on Google’s infrastructure (primarily the United States).
  • Cloudflare R2 and Cloudflare Stream — storage and delivery of your photos and audio (R2) and your videos (Stream).
  • GitHub — when a recipe is published, its page is committed to the website’s source repository, which is hosted on GitHub.

These providers process data under their own privacy and security terms. Your information may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. The recipes, photos, audio, and video you choose to publish are public by design — that’s the whole point of the site. Beyond that, we only share information with the service providers above so we can run the service, or if we’re ever legally required to.

Your choices and rights

  • Access or delete your data. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account and associated data. Email us at the address below.
  • Unpublish a recipe. Recipes you’ve published can be taken down — ask us and we’ll remove the page and its media from the public site.
  • Comments. Ask us to remove a comment you left and we will.

We’ll respond to genuine requests within a reasonable time. Some limited information may be retained where we’re required to keep it, or to prevent abuse.

Deleting your account and data

You can ask us to delete your MSM Kitchen account and everything tied to it whenever you like. MSM Kitchen is operated by DVXL Ventures LLC. There isn’t a one-tap “delete account” button in the app today, so we take care of deletions by request — and we keep it simple:

  • Email contact@dvxlventures.com from the address you sign in with, with “Delete my account” in the subject (or just ask in the message). Writing from your sign-in email lets us confirm the request is really you.
  • We’ll reply to confirm we’ve received it, and again once your account and data have been removed.

What we delete. Your account and the data connected to it — your sign-in record, your name and email, and your home chef profile — along with all of your recipes (drafts, recipes sent in for review, and published recipes) and their photos, voice recordings (audio), and videos. Anything you had published is taken down from the public Mustard Seed Masala website, and comments you left can be removed too.

How long it takes, and what we keep. We complete deletions within 30 days of confirming your request — usually much sooner. A few residual copies may linger briefly in our providers’ encrypted backups and are purged within about 90 days. Beyond that we keep only the limited information we’re legally required to, or genuinely need to prevent fraud and abuse — never for marketing.

Children

Mustard Seed Masala and MSM Kitchen are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a meaningful change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
